Impact of Technology Through Computer Use
After using his Chromebook all day long in each of his “A” day classes, sophomore Luke Nelson pulls out his stylus pen from his Chromebook used in school to take notes.
Each student receives a computer, which is included within the tuition-fee. Sophomores Katherine McGee, Bebe Preu and Nelson, all said how useful the Chromebook has been to their high school experience.
“The most useful part about my Chromebook is being able to do multiple assignments at once, along with playing games when I get bored,” Nelson said.
According to Dartmouth College, taking notes on paper is a better way of memorizing. McGee agrees with this but additionally says that digital apps are much more useful to her in math class than in Honors English ll and AP European History.
“Here we use apps like Delta Math and Desmos on our Chromebooks, which helps me better throughout classes,” McGee said.
Students like Bebe Preu have expressed how useful their devices in comparison to schools with little to no access to technology.
"I make an effort to reduce my screen time, but I do find my computer helpful for its calculator and access to the web for assignments like essays," Preu said.
