Senior Kirston Verhulst leads the girls volleyball team through the gym to celebrate their third consecutive state championship win. “I was a little bit nervous walking around the gym because there were a lot of people in there, but it was nice to see the support from everyone after we won,” Verhulst said. Verhulst has focused on leading the team by example, working hard to show the underclassmen how the team needs to play in order to win. “It was a pretty intense game, but our level of competitiveness really showed.”

Greeted by the seniors, freshman Khi Allen walks up the red carpet at the freshmen welcome day filled with school spirit. “I was feeling a little bit nervous but also super excited at the same time to start a new school year,” Allen said. “There was a lot of school spirit that day, especially during the herd competitions, and the whole school is super spirited.”

As the crowd stands up for the champions, senior Livi Shull takes it all in with fellow teammates. Shull described how the new coaching staff led them to state. “They adjusted greatly to us, and we adjusted to them and it all worked out great,” Shull said. “I am so very appreciative for the coaches and my team.”

Cheering on the team, senior Connor Neenan stands in the front row with his fellow seniors to help lead and pump up the student section at the boys basketball game against Rockhurst. “Especially this year watching my friends that I'm close with play makes it even more exciting,” Neenan said. “I’ve always gone to basketball games, but getting to help lead is so much fun.”
