To celebrate Black History Month, here are some resources to learn more. For 2021, the theme and focus is “The Black Family: Representation, Identity and Diversity”. These links provide access to virtual museums and fun facts.

Learn more about the History and Virtual Festival

The Association for the Study of African American Life and History provides historical background on Black History Month. They will be hosting a virtual festival including guest speakers and more.

Learn about the new Apple editorial collections and more

In honor of Black History Month, Apple has released new items and features to celebrate. One of the biggest pieces is the Black Unity Collection, offering a limited edition Apple Watch, Sport Band, and watch face.

Along with this, they will be supporting six global civil rights organizations. The App Store and Apple Maps will also be providing new services such as a hub for Black developers and EatOkra which provides insight on Black-owned restaraunts.

Time magazine speaks out on the history of how Black History Month became Black History Month. They focus on the struggle faced to create a time for people to begin a conversation on Black history.

The Leaven gives a focus and insight on Black Saints, who are not well-known within the Church. Black Saints are an important part of the unity within the Church, giving everyone a figure they can look up to. Parishioners talk about what these Saints mean to them and their faith.

The school system teaches very few Black history facts, making educating yourself important to the public. Oprah Magazine offers this quick overview of Black history fun facts that give a greater insight and knowledge.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Microsoft has uploaded multiple virtual tours of museums around the country for people to explore from the comfort of their own homes. They offer tours for personal groups and even school groups as well. Along with these virtual museums, they also have book readings of inspirational books on diversity.
