Stags Who Serve: Students participate in service projects over Thanksgiving break

Sorting through notebooks, junior Seri Steinbrecher packages art supplies for The Arts Inspired Network Foundation during the Thanksgiving break. The art supplies will help kids express themselves in new ways and provide them with a new creative outlet. “It made me feel good to help others have a good Thanksgiving,” Steinbrecher said.

Senior Bella Franco helps decorate the Martina herd Christmas tree during the annual “Red Bag” event on Dec.5. Keeping the spirit up, senior Emilia Buck grooves during the seventh and eighth-grade mixer. “I think all of us having fun helped the seventh and eighth graders,” Buck said. “We kept our energy at its best, so their energy would be high, and they would have a great time.”
Grooving to the Beat: Senior leadership encourages incoming classes
Senior Kirston Verhulst leads the girls volleyball team through the gym to celebrate their third consecutive state championship win. “I was a little bit nervous walking around the gym because there were a lot of people in there, but it was nice to see the support from everyone after we won,” Verhulst said. Verhulst has focused on leading the team by example, working hard to show the underclassmen how the team needs to play in order to win. “It was a pretty intense game, but our level of competitiveness really showed.”
Cheering On the Champions: Student athletes celebrate recent state championships with the school
Griffin Bloemker interview: With the work put in during practices, sophomore Griffin Bloemker has built up his ability to accelerate to first at the start of his race. “The training is the hard part, but the races make it worth it,” Bloemker said. “If you work and train hard enough, then races will be more satisfying and fun.”
Fired Up: Cross Country team starts the season off strong with their first meet
Greeted by the seniors, freshman Khi Allen walks up the red carpet at the freshmen welcome day filled with school spirit. “I was feeling a little bit nervous but also super excited at the same time to start a new school year,” Allen said. “There was a lot of school spirit that day, especially during the herd competitions, and the whole school is super spirited.”

Hello! My name is Evan Ulmer and this will be my second year on the Miegian Staff as a senior! I am very excited to be our team's Photo Editor as I have always had a strong passion for photography! I had such a blast on the photography staff last year, that I knew returning I wanted to take on an editor position.
