Kicking off the home football schedule, the Dazzlers dance team, cheerleaders and the drum line set the tone for the afternoon’s festivities. Speeches and student skits from the newly formed spirit committee also elevated the energy.

The Dazzlers performed a routine created at the National Dance Alliance camp for the crowd.
“We brought a lot of positive energy,” senior and dance captain Abbie Baniewicz said. “We wanted to leave a good impact on others.”
Herd coordinator Jessica Switzer had the idea to bring together the spirit committee to the school this year.
“I just really love getting into spirit and making sure everyone’s involved,” junior Isaac Frenzel, spirit committee member, said. “It’s such an electric environment when the team is playing.”

The assembly concluded with a speech from head football coach Jon Holmes. Holmes promised the crowd that if the student body turned up for the game and stayed to the end, that the football team would deliver a victory.
The football team ended the night with a 28-27 victory over Blue Valley Southwest.
“It’s a great time seeing fans up there just screaming and having a good time, and you know, it’s a great atmosphere to be around,” junior defensive tackle Ben Fisher said.
