Gassett’s spinal fusion surgery took place on Nov. 9 and lasted 10 hours. “It was an experience that I will never forget and one that has changed my life for the better,” Gassett said.

Ready to play, freshmen Marco Rodriguez and freshmen Jordan Ballard get ready to knock down each other's herds castles. Tylicki ended up beating Millie in the competition.

Coming up with the game plan, the Bohaty herd prepares to play its first round of castle ball. The castle ball games lasted five minutes each and consisted of 12 people on each team.

Trying to win the competition, senior Lindsay Casper and junior River Ball try to make shaving cream art. This competition took place on Jan. 19 as well as castle ball.

Representing his herd, junior Alex Smith and sophomore Sinclair Nixon put the finishing touches on their shaving cream art. The theme was the best of 2022. Bohaty created the Ursuline Cup to represent their win from 2022. "It was nice to release an artist side to such a creative way of painting," Smith said.

Raising her hand, freshmen Brianne Sutherlin participates in a small group activity. "I really enjoyed playing spoons with our group leader," Sutherlin said. "I felt like it really bonded our group."

Growing In Faith: Freshmen class participates in NET retreat

Holding up numbers, freshmen play the best friend game. At the NET Retreat that took place on Jan. 18-19, the class got to participate in fun activities including the best friend game.

With big smiles on their faces, freshmen girls enjoy playing a game in small groups. At the NET Retreat lots of games were played in their small groups. Small groups gave freshmen a chance to connect with their classmates.

Standing tall, freshmen girl enjoys the pass the ball game. The games that were played in there small groups and took place a couple times during the retreat.

Passing the ball, freshmen Bella Dessert passes the ball to freshmen Lucy Watson. They participated in the pass the ball game in there small groups. All freshmen participated in this activity.

Listening and focused, freshmen go into their small groups for a group discussion. Discussions took place in small groups and also in larger groups throughout the retreat.

Writing down her answers, freshmen Caleigh Masters joins in on an activity in her small group. Throughout the retreat freshmen got the chance to break down into small groups to participate in fun games and activities. "I really enjoyed small groups and the skit we did," Masters said.

Reaching forward, senior Lauren Myers hits the ball to her opponent. Myers has been on the tennis team for four years and has gone to state all four years. "I went on to the court knowing that these were my last matches," Myers said. "It was sad and hit me that it was my last time competing."

Setting up for her serve, junior Livi Shull focuses on the ball. Senior Grace Tucker and Shull placed ninth at the state tournament. "It's sad that my duo partner is leaving because we have been doubles partners for a while and have grown up together," Shull said. "But I am excited to see what she does in the future."

Coming off a winning shot, senior Grace Tucker and junior Livi Shull bump rackets for good luck as they prepare for the next shot. They have been tennis doubles partners since middle school. "It was bitter-sweet competing our last match together because we have been playing with each other for so long," Tucker said. "But I am glad that we won our last match together."
