Experimenting at Miege

During human anatomy and physiology class, senior Grant Moffitt examines a sheep’s brain. While in class, Moffitt got to see all the different parts of a sheep’s brain by dissecting it. “At first I was kind of hesitant because it’s like something's brain and that's kind of nasty,” Moffitt said. “Once I started doing it, it was really cool to again see the different parts and all of it in real life and to know that it is a part of a living organism.”

While learning to dissect in human anatomy and physiology class, senior Olivia Cerda cuts open a sheep brain. “All the information we learned the weeks before and actually visualizing it and being able to see it and touch it and getting the hands-on experience was really cool,” Cerda said.

While using a technique called titration in chemistry class, junior Ava Fortin pours potassium permanganate into a tube. By doing this experiment Fortin was able to figure out how to find the percent of iron in an unknown substance. “Titrations is my favorite because they are kind of interesting and it's kind of like a guessing game,” Fortin said.

While doing an experiment in chemistry class, sophomore Caniya Spencer rinses off the conductivity stick with water. During the class, she learned about how to find conductivity of different substances. “I was very excited because I got to see the conductivity,” Spencer said.

While at practice, sophomore Ruben Hernandez uses a kickboard to help with a flutter kicking drill. “We made a lot of progression throughout the year,” Hernandez said. “We all worked toward the effort of making it to state.”
