SUSPICION ARISES: Gathered around, the cast of “While The Lights Were Out” discusses the reason for the police’s presence. The play performances took place Feb. 16-18 and consisted of a junior-senior cast. “My character gets drunk throughout the show, and at this point she’s having her first couple tastes of alcohol,” junior River Ball said.

ALONE TOGETHER Alone together, junior Francis Cressey and senior Lauren Lueckenotto argue about their love for each other. In the play, Cressey is arranged to marry junior Sally Panis but is in love with Lueckenotto. “I was just trying to stay engaged in the moment,” Lueckenotto said.

ALL LAUGHS: About to explain a misunderstanding, senior Harrison Roth and junior Alex Smith converse. "[Roth] basically inadvertently threatened me, but it’s okay because it was kind of an accident,” Smith said.

PICTURE PERFECT: Putting together a frame, freshman Katherine McGee helps decorate the stage. McGee was a part of the stage crew for the play. ”I enjoyed getting to be in the booth at show nights,” McGee said. “We were able to have a lot of fun, while still helping out.”

Before the boys varsity basketball game on Feb. 21, wife of former girl’s basketball coach Terry English thanks the Miege community for its support. English passed away on Oct. 11, 2022.

Walking up the stage, juniors Lola Kernell and Alex Smith prepare to receive their Sadie’s princess and prince crowns. Sadie’s took place on Jan. 28 where seniors Oscar Ludwikoski and Emma Lazarczyk won king and queen. “I was really surprised and honored, I did not expect to be a princess of the court,” Kernell said. “It was very impressive.”

During the mentors versus students herd competitions, sophomores Andre Randle and Nikhil Rattan stand to support a three pointer made by Dean of Students Alex Keith. “I was very energetic and excited for the teachers and wanted them to beat the students,” Randle said. “I felt like the room was very energetic and the game was really intense. I was rooting for Mrs. Ceceña, and one of the teachers had just hit a three, so that’s why me and Nikhil were jumping up and going crazy.“

Hand on a pawn, Martina member sophomore Carson Lemon plays chess against Bohaty member Matthew Morris during herd competitions on Feb. 23. Lemon earned points for his herd for winning the game. “I was focused on trying to win against my opponent,” Lemon said. “It was a tough game, but I won. I was confident because I had beat him before.”

In Survey of Art, freshman Hailey Hodge makes an environmetnally sustainable home on Dec. 6. “I like my friends and painting,” Hodge said. “I needed to get my art credit, so I took it.”

After struggling to find a fitting community, Bishop Miege proved a perfect match for senior Will Baska.

Extending his hand, senior Alexander Murphy helps sophomore Jane Werner identify veins on a human body on Dec. 9. The Principles of Biomedical Science class learned how to properly draw blood from latex arms from nurse Malisa McEachen.

All AP U.S. History classes participated in speed dating, where they researched a historical figure and pretended to be them while meeting with other students. “It was a good way to fastly learn about different historical figures,” Brennan said. “It was an enjoyable experience of being someone else.”

Gluing down reindeer, sophomore Henry Holm helps out with theology teacher Patricia Arnold’s door decorations on Dec. 1. The theme for the Tylicki herd was Christmas movies.

During the robotics club Christmas mixer, Emma Masters and Gabby Gallaher dance at the front of the dance line on Dec. 9. To raise funds, the robotics club decided to host a mixer for students to have an opportunity to celebrate the Christmas season.

Energy high, the student section during the Wamego state game cheers on Nov. 26. The game ended with a score of 35-14, and the Stags won the football state championship. “I was really excited that we were so strong and watching the boys play together,” senior Noah Nguyen said. “I was just glad I was able to enjoy time with my friends.”

Over the summer, junior Hampton Thompson and sophomore Michaela Wilcox attended the Harvard Academies program. Senior Carmela Pollina attended Vanderbilt University to learn about the biology of cancer.
